About me.
I am here to be your guide so that you can embody a greater sense of connection, confidence, and ease within yourself and in relationships. I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of clients over the years, and continue to do so in my practice. I focus my work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating stressful life events, the impacts of recent or past trauma, relationship stress/conflict, adjusting to chronic illness, or experiencing grief and loss. Together, we will explore holistic approaches that are tailored to your unique story, helping you to grow your self-awareness and discover effective ways to thrive in your day-to-day life.
My approach draws from a variety of techniques all framed within a neurobiological, trauma-informed lens. I firmly believe that knowledge is power, and this understanding will empower you to grasp how both the body and mind respond to experiences of stress and safety. By doing so, we can cultivate a deeper sense of curiosity and self-compassion in place of feelings of shame and guilt. We will work together to develop effective tools to cope with life stress and adversity, but also tap into your strengths to develop your own sense of self, values, and interests. Together, we will embark on a new path towards increased self-awareness and growth that extends beyond our time in therapy.
My sessions with you are collaborative and conversational, creating a space where you feel heard and supported. My style is straight-forward and humorous at times. I am ready to challenge you to find a better version of yourself and your relationships. Sessions may be solutions-focused and last a few months, or can be an ongoing therapeutic relationship that lasts for years, depending on your needs and goals.
I support the American Alpine Club Climbing Grief Fund that connects individuals to mental health professionals and resources in the climbing, alpinism, and ski mountaineering community. I am also a volunteer guide with Wild Grief based in Olympia, WA, providing peer-based guided programs in nature, free of charge, to grieving youth, families and people of all ages.
I am originally from the Southern Tier of New York. I lived in New York City for 8 years after graduate school, and briefly lived in beautiful Maine and Utah prior to calling Seattle home. I thrive being in the mountains and enjoy many outdoor sports and activities. I love exploring the world and have traveled to 33 countries, and even lived in Kathmandu, Nepal. I find being a therapist and social worker a privilege to gain perspective outside of my own and feel the power of human connection.
