About me.
I am here to be your supportive guide so that you can embody a greater sense of connection, confidence, and ease within yourself and in relationships you hold dear. I focus my work with individuals who are navigating significant life transitions, stressful life events, trauma, loss, conflicts, illness/injuries. Together, we will explore holistic and mindful approaches that are tailored to your unique story, helping you to grow your self-awareness and discover effective ways to thrive in your day-to-day life.
My approach to personal growth and healing draws from a variety of techniques, including traditional talk therapy, experiential activities, and mindfulness practices; all framed within a trauma-informed lens. I firmly believe that knowledge is power, and this understanding will empower you to grasp how both the body and mind respond to experiences of stress and safety. By doing so, we can cultivate a deeper sense of curiosity and self-compassion in place of feelings of shame and guilt. We will work together to develop tools to cope with distress, but also tap into your strengths to develop your own sense of self, values, and interests. Together, we will embark on a new path towards increased self-confidence and growth that extends beyond our time in therapy.
My sessions with you are collaborative and conversational, creating a space where you feel heard and supported. My style is direct, straight-forward, and humorous at times. I am ready to challenge you to find a better version of yourself. Sessions may last a few months, or can be an ongoing therapeutic relationship that lasts for years, depending on your needs and goals.
I have 17 years of experience in social work, specifically working with youth, adults, and families who come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and face various life challenges. I have worked in residential treatment programs and foster care for teens and young adults who were facing the effects of trauma and substance abuse. I have worked as a therapist in outpatient clinics specializing in trauma and PTSD, as well as in healthcare settings offering integrated mental health support for patients receiving medical treatment.
I support the American Alpine Club Climbing Grief Fund that connects individuals to mental health professionals and resources in the climbing, alpinism, and ski mountaineering community. I am also a volunteer guide with Wild Grief based in Olympia, WA, providing peer based guided programs in nature, free of charge, to grieving youth, families and people of all ages.
I am originally from Upstate New York and lived and practiced in New York City, Maine, and Utah prior to moving to Seattle, Washington. I thrive being in the mountains, have traveled to 33 countries, and lived in Kathmandu, Nepal. I love learning about the world and find being a therapist and social worker a privilege to gain perspective outside of my own and feel the power of human connection.
